NSF-funded Summer REUs
The REU program was established by the National Science Foundation (NSF) to encourage and fund student research opportunities in a wide variety of fields such as Chemistry, Computer Science, and Geology. Most REUs have subtopics offering participants a variety of choices in each field. These programs range from 8 to 10 weeks, and, according to NSF guidelines, usually draw the majority of their participants from outside our university, although USF students are encouraged to apply. Housing and a stipend are provided. NSF REU participants must be undergraduate students and must be citizens or legal permanent residents of the United States or its possessions.
