Dr. Naomi Yavneh, Director of UR USF
Dr. Yavneh is an associate professor of Renaissance arts and letters in the department of Humanities and American Studies. Dr. Yavneh is the president of the Society for the Study of Early Modern Women and past president of the Modern Language Association's Women's Caucus for the Modern Languages. She received her bachelor's cum laude from Princeton University and her masters and doctorate degrees from the University of California, Berkeley. Among Yavneh's honors and distinctions include a Fulbright fellowship for dissertation research at the Vatican in Rome, a Phi Beta Kappa fellowship for research in Venice and three research and creative scholarships from USF. Dr. Yavneh was honored by USF's Women in Leadership and Philanthropy with their inaugural Research Recognition Award, Fall 2006.
Ms. Penny Carlton, Undergraduate Research Advisor
Ms. Carlton joined the staff of the Honors College in February of 2004. She currently works with Dr. Yavneh in the Office of Undergraduate Research to help connect interested students with Faculty Mentors. Her other special projects include coordinating the research symposium and managing the UR USF office. Ms. Carlton received a Master of Fine Arts in Writing and Poetics from Naropa University in Boulder, Colorado. Prior to coming to The Honors College, she worked as the Director of Education at Sylvan Learning Center. She also taught Creative Writing and Composition at the Art Institute of Tampa for three years.
Ms. Cristiane Carvalho Keetch, Graduate Assistant
Cristiane is pursuing a Masters in Political Science with a focus on Public Policy. She possesses professional and academic research experience related to local and state government issues. Her background also includes an undergraduate degree in Finance and experience as a financial analyst in the private and public sectors. Cristiane has held many leadership and volunteer positions in the community with organizations such as Big Brothers Big Sisters, Emerge Tampa, the Hispanic Professional Women’s Association, the Hillsborough Literacy Council, and USF’s Graduate & Professional Student Council amongst others. She has also received community awards such as the USF 2006 Successful Latina student award based on high scholastic achievement, academic research, community involvement and professional accomplishments. She will help students with on a variety of issues including the overall mentoring process, research presentations and grant proposals. Her projects will also including marketing UR events and the publication of Conjure, the journal of Undergraduate Research
